Trekking Machu Picchu – Salkantay in the Vilconota Mountain Range

Day 1: Arrive in Lima and travel to Cusco and then your hotel
Day 2: On this day we will leave Cusco early. On the way we will pass through the small towns of Izuchaca and Limatambo. Three hours out of Cusco we will arrive at Molle Pata where will have breakfast. After breakfast we will continue on our route to Silca where we will have lunch. After lunch we will continue across verdant and beautiful countryside to Soraypampa, where we will camp. The hike takes 6-7 hours.
Day 3: This day we will continue through a canyon that will carry us to Salkantay. After three hours of hiking we will have lunch, and then continue our exploration of Salkantay and arrive at the beginning of the jungle. We will camp at Collpa Pampa. The hike takes approximately 7-8 hours.
Day 4: On this day we will begin our hike with an exceptional view of the snowcapped Salkantay, 6, 271 m. After descending to the riverbank for lunch we will continue through the cloud forests where we will have the opportunity to see how the environment changes, going from warm to hot. After a short walk we will arrive out our camp, Lucma Bamba. The hike takes approximately 6-7 hours.
Day 5: On this day we will take an alternative trail which will take us along the Inca trail. We will have lunch at a hydroelectric station, and afterwards we will take the train to Aguas Calientes and to a hostel.
Day 6: On this day we will go by bys and walking to Machu Picchu. At Machu Picchu a guide will take us back in time, explainig to us the history, astronomy and religion during a 3 hour tour. We will have the opportunity to appreciate Machu Picchu in all its splendor. In the afternoon we will return to Aguas Calientes and take the train to Ollantaytambo. Once there will continue our trip by bus back to Cusco and to your hotel.
