Trekking Choquequirao Cusco – Apurímac

Day 1: Arrive in Lima, Peru. On the same day travel to the city of Cusco and to your hotel.
Day 2: On this day we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 8:00 a.m. and travel to Cachorra, where we will wait for the muleteer and donkeys to transport the trekking equipment. The drive takes 6 hours and on the way we will see the archeological site, Tarawasi and the Saywiti rock, Maqueta Inca. We will arrive at the entrance of Saywiti, 3,790, m. and then descend on a dirt road to Cachorra where we will camp.
Day 3: On this day we will begin our 21 km. hike at 7:00 a.m. After approximately 9-10 hours of hiking we will see the snowcapped Pedrayoc, 5,482 m. Along the way we will see a variety of wildlife. Later we will arrive at the first lookout, Tinajayoc, 2,800 m. Additional lookouts include Cocamasana, Torowisqana, and Chiquisca. At lunchtime we will stop at the Rosalina river bank, and then continue on to camp Santa Rosa, 2,100 m.
Day 4: On this day we begin our hike at 7:30 a.m. for the archeological site of Choquequirao. We will have lunch there and explore this Inca city in the afternoon.
Day 5: Very early on this day we will return for the sunrise at Choquequirao. Subsequently we will begin our return, arriving at Rosalina river bank for lunch. Afterwards we will continue our hike to Chiquisqa, where we will camp.
Day 6: We will begin this day at 6 a.m., hiking again between the Apurimac canyon and the snowcapped Pedrayoc. After five hours we will arrive at the Cachorra village where we will have lunch before departing for Cusco.
