Santa Cruz to Quebrada Ulta

Day 1: Arrive in Lima from your country of origin. Travel to Huaraz and to your hotel.
Day 2: Travel from Huaraz, 3,100 meters, in private transportation to Cashapampa, 2,930 meters. There we will meet the muleteer and the donkeys who will transport our trekking equipment, and begin our hike. After paying the entrance fee of 10 soles per person (which the Cashapampa village charges to maintain the route) , we will begin our hike through the Santa Cruz Ravine along the Yuracmayu river bank. We will camp at Llamacoral, 3,760 meters. The hike takes 4-5 hours.
Day 3: Llamacoral, 3,760 meters to Taullipampa, 4,250 meters. We will continue along the Santa Cruz Ravine. The elevation increase from camp is 490 meters. On the way we will see the Jatuncocha and Ichiccocha Lagunes. Then we will deviate to the Alpamayo lookout where we will see the following snowcapped mountains: Alpamayo, Quitaraju, Potaca, Aguja, Caraz, Artezonraju, Piramide and Paria. After observing these beautiful snowcapped mountains we will continue to camp. The hike takes 5-6 hours.
Day 4: Taullipampa, 4,250 meters to Cachinanpampa, 3,600 meters. On this day we will travel across the Punta Union Pass, 4,750 meters. The elevation increase from camp to the Pass is 500 meters. From the Pass we will observe the entire Santa Cruz valley and the snowcapped mountains already mentioned. We will then descend 1,150 meters through the Huaripampa Ravine toward camp. The hike takes 7-8 hours.
Day 5: Cachinanpampa, 3,600 meters to Molino Pampa, 3,980 meters. On this day we will travel through the following villages: Callejon de Conchucos, Colcabamba, and Chalhua. Afterward we will arrive at our camp. The hike takes 5-6 hours.
Day 6: Molino Pampa, 3,980 meters, to Quebrada Ulta, 4,280 meters. On this day we travel over the Punta Yanayacu Pass, 4,850 meters. The elevation increase from camp to the pass is 870 meters. From the Pass we will observe the following snowcapped mountains: Cajavilca, Contrayervas, Ulta and Hualcan. The hike to camp takes 6-7 hours.
Day 7: Ulta, 4,280 meters to Cruce de Chacas, 4,000 meters. At Cruce de Chacas we will wait for transportation to take us to Huaraz and to your hotel. On the date you wish to return to Lima, we will take you from your hotel to the bus station, at which point our services end.
